If you’re heading to Pattaya, don’t miss a day trip to Koh Larn – also known as Coral Island. It’s just off the coast and offers clear water, soft sand, and a relaxed vibe. It’s ideal for families who want a mix of adventure and downtime.
We chose to explore the island on our own. It was easy, fun, and full of surprises.
🚤 Getting to Koh Larn: Tour or DIY?
👉 Book Coral Island Snorkelling Tour on Klook
If you want a hassle-free day, book a Klook snorkelling tour. It includes a speedboat, snorkelling gear, and hotel pickup. Great for families who prefer everything arranged.
We went the DIY route. It’s cheaper and gives you more freedom. The public ferry from Bali Hai Pier costs just ฿30 per person – same price for adults and kids.
🚢 Ferry Options to Koh Larn
Na Baan Pier (Main Village)
- Depart Pattaya: 07:00, 10:00, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00, 18:30
- Return from Na Baan: 06:30, 07:30, 09:30, 12:00, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00, 18:00
We arrived at Na Baan Pier. From there, we took a songthaew (shared pickup truck) to Tien Beach. It cost ฿30 per person, paid in cash. The price was the same for adults and children. Tien Beach was quiet and perfect for families.
Tawaen Beach Pier (Direct Beach Access)
- Depart Pattaya: 08:00, 09:00, 11:00, 13:00
- Return from Tawaen Beach: 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00
Tawaen Beach is busier. It has restaurants, water sports, and beach chairs right by the pier. No transport needed.
Important: Ferry schedules can change. Always double-check the times with your hotel or at the pier before you go.
🏖️ Beach Fun & Banana Boat Thrills
Once we settled in at Tien Beach, the kids were straight into the sand while we soaked up the views. The beach was quiet and clean. It had just the right amount of activity. It wasn’t too crowded but was lively enough to keep things exciting.
One of the highlights? We tried the banana boat ride, and it was a blast! It cost ฿200 per person, and yes – adults and children pay the same. The ride was fast, bumpy, and full of laughter. Our youngest was nervous at first, but ended up loving it. Just make sure everyone wears a life jacket and holds on tight!
🧃 Food & Beach Tips
Food near the beaches is more expensive than in the city. We suggest grabbing snacks and drinks from the 7-Eleven near Bali Hai Pier before boarding or Na Baan Pier. It’s well-stocked and doesn’t seem to charge for plastic bags.
If you’re going DIY, bring snorkel gear, towels, and beach toys. The ferry takes about 40 minutes. Arrive 15–20 minutes early, especially on weekends.
🌴 Final Thoughts
Koh Larn was a highlight of our Pattaya trip. Whether you book a tour or go solo, it’s a great way to spend the day. The beaches are beautiful, the water is clear, and the vibe is relaxed.
We loved the adventure and would definitely go again.
